TSAWWASSEN (NEWS 1130) – If your planned Thanksgiving long weekend includes travel between Vancouver Island and the mainland, you’ll want to take note of some major BC Ferries schedule changes.
He indicated that a modified schedule will be in place for the Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay route from Friday October 8 to Tuesday October 12.
BC Ferries says this is due to a mechanical problem with the Spirit of Vancouver Island’s starboard gearbox. The Coastal Renaissance is repositioned to assist in the recovery of this ship.
Customers who have already booked on the affected crossings will be notified.
“Every effort will be made to accommodate bookings on the next available crossing,” BC Ferries said. Customers who cannot be booked will be refunded and “the trip will revert to standby mode”.
