DHL Express Shapes the Future of Sustainable Aviation with Order of Eviation’s First-ever Fully Electric Cargo Aircraft

GOOD, Germany and ARLINGTON, Washing., August 3, 2021 / PRNewswire / – DHL Express (symbol: DPW), world leader in express services, and Eviation, the Seattle-Global manufacturer of all-electric aircraft based in the region, is making aviation history today by announcing that DHL is the first to order 12 fully-electric Alice eCargo aircraft from Eviation. With this commitment, DHL aims to build an unprecedented electric express network and take a step forward towards a sustainable aviation future. The Alice d’Eviation is the world’s first fully electric aircraft, allowing airlines – cargo and passengers – to operate a zero-emission fleet. Eviation plans to deliver the Alice electric aircraft to DHL Express in 2024.

“We strongly believe in a future with zero-emission logistics,” says John pearson, CEO of DHL Express. “Therefore, our investments always follow the goal of improving our carbon footprint. On our way to clean logistics operations, the electrification of each mode of transport plays a crucial role and will contribute significantly to our overall goal of zero emission sustainability. Founded in 1969, DHL Express has been known as a pioneer in the aviation industry for decades. We have found the ideal partner with Eviation because they share our goal, and together we will take off into a new era of sustainable aviation.

Alice can be flown by a single pilot and will carry 2,600 pounds (1,250 kilograms). It will take 30 minutes or less to load per flight hour and have a maximum range of 440 nautical miles (815 kilometers). Alice will operate in all environments currently served by piston and turbine aircraft. Alice’s advanced electric motors have fewer moving parts to increase reliability and reduce maintenance costs. Its operating software continuously monitors flight performance to ensure optimum efficiency.

“From day one, we set ourselves a bold goal of transforming the aviation industry and creating a new era with electric aircraft,” said the CEO of Eviation. Omer Bar Yohay. “Partnering with companies like DHL, which are leaders in sustainable electronic freight transport, is a testament to the fact that the electric age is upon us. This announcement is an important step in our quest to transform the future of flying around the world. ”

The aircraft is ideal for feeder routes and requires less investment in station infrastructure. The Alice can be loaded during loading and unloading operations, ensuring quick turnaround times that keep DHL Express tight schedules. The logistics company plans to build several zero-emission Alice power grids in the United States, presumably from California.

“My compliments to Eviation for the innovative development of the fully electric Alice aircraft,” says Travis Cobb, EVP Global Network Operations and Aviation for DHL Express. “With Alice’s reach and capacity, this is a fantastic durable solution for our global network and will be targeted for operations on the southeast and west coasts of the United States. Our aspiration is to help substantially reducing our carbon footprint, and these advancements in fleet and technology will go a long way in further reducing carbon emissions. For us and our customers this is a very important step in our journey. decarbonisation and a step forward for the aviation industry as a whole. ”

With innovation, performance and durability serving as the North Star, Eviation is creating a new era in aviation with the all-electric Alice aircraft. Alice has been specially designed so that it can be configured for freight or passengers. Eviation’s all-electric Alice aircraft is on track for its maiden flight later this year.

“The next time you order an on-demand package, check to see if it came with a zero-emission aircraft like DHL will,” said the executive chairman of Eviation. Roei ganzarski. “With on-demand purchases and deliveries steadily increasing, Alice is enabling DHL to establish a clean, quiet, low-cost operation that will open up greater opportunities for more communities from here to. United States. “
