The airline which operates flights to and from Campbeltown Airport enlists the musicians of Kintyre to help celebrate its diamond anniversary.

Loganair will celebrate its 60th anniversary next month and is creating a celebration video requiring local soundtrack in honor of reaching the milestone.

The airline invites aspiring and established artists from the regions it serves to record and submit a lyrical or instrumental song that encapsulates the airline’s philosophy over its six decades of operation.

One entry will be selected to feature in the anniversary video, in addition to winning a cash prize of £1,000.

Loganair was founded on February 1, 1962, with its first flight taking off from Dundee Airport to Edinburgh in October 1963.

Over its six decades, Loganair has become the UK’s largest regional airline and flies to several international destinations, including Denmark and Norway.

Loganair also operates vital services to the Highlands and Islands via domestic flights and its partnership with Royal Mail.

The airline operates flights to and from Campbeltown Airport.

Through the video, the airline hopes to celebrate its legacy and pay tribute to all the special moments it has shared with its customers, including connecting people across the UK, reuniting loved ones and enabling businesses to grow.

Therefore, the airline is looking for a song by a local artist on its UK network that puts the customer at the heart of its 60-year history.

“Celebrating 60 years is a truly remarkable milestone and it is humbling to reflect on our history as we continue to invest and look forward to the next 60 years,” said Kay Ryan, chief commercial officer of Loganair.

“We’re in the business of connecting people, so it’s fitting to tap into our network to create a soundtrack for our celebration video.

“We look forward to hearing from talented submissions over the coming weeks.”

But budding musicians will have to start humming or strumming as soon as the registration deadline is set for Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

The winning entrant will then be selected to receive £1,000 cash and will have their entry produced for the video which is set to debut on Tuesday February 1, 2022.
