Including all of this morning’s results, we now have fourth quarter results for 184 members of the S&P 500, or 36.8% of the total number of index members.

For the fourth quarter as a whole, combining the actual results that have come in with estimates for businesses yet to come, total earnings and revenue are expected to be up +24.6% and +13.3% from compared to the same period last year, respectively.
Today’s Featured Analyst Reports
Shares of Procter & Gamble have outperformed the soap and cleaning products industry Zacks over the past year (+27.7% vs. +13.7%). The Zacks analyst believes PG has benefited from the resurgence in demand for cleaning products and improved productivity.
Procter & Gamble’s products play a key role in meeting consumers’ daily health, hygiene and cleaning needs, which has driven demand for its hand soaps, detergents and surface cleaning products since the beginning. of the pandemic. PG’s full year 2022 results benefited from solid revenue growth across all segments, driven by robust volume, pricing and mix. Commodity price inflation, rising freight costs and pandemic woes weighed on its margins.

IBM shares have gained +1.4% over the past six months against the +3.2% rise in the S&P 500, however, things appear to be looking up for it. The Zacks analyst believes an expanding product portfolio, synergies from the Red Hat acquisition and strong adoption of cloud-based digital transformation solutions should boost IBM’s growth prospects.
IBM is set to benefit from the spin-off of the legacy infrastructure services business as it focuses on its hybrid cloud strategy. Strong competition in the cloud computing market from Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, as well as higher debt levels amid major restructuring activities, remain major headwinds for IBM.

Shares of Charter Communications are down -13% over the past three months compared to a loss of -7.4% for the Zacks Cable TV industry. Charter constantly suffers from video subscriber attrition due to cord cutting and fierce competition in the streaming space. A leveraged balance sheet is an additional concern.
The Zacks analyst, however, believes that Charter continues to benefit from growth in Internet, mobile and advertising revenues. The high end of CHTR also benefits from an expanding user base. A spike in internet usage due to the coronavirus-induced wave of working from home and online learning is another tailwind.
